BENNINGTON -- A Shrine Elementary teacher has been charged with felony possession of child pornography after observe allegedly found images of young girls on his school computer.
John C. Dockum, 34, who has taught fifth descent at Monument since 2009, has been banned from campus and placed on paid administrative reject, according to officials.
Bennington Police Chief Paul Doucette said guard were alerted to a potential problem at Dockum's home in North Bennington in September.
"A next of kin member was using the home computer and came across some images that they felt were not felicitous," Doucette said.
That person then notified police, who executed a search guarantee on Oct. 5 in an attempt to seize the computer at Dockum's home. But Dockum had already removed and destroyed the spirituous drive after the family member confronted him, Doucette said.
Dockum, who Doucette described as a respected colleague of the community, initially cooperated with police.
