After five plan-shifting, always-on-the-bubble seasons,
loyal viewers of NBC's action-spy-comedy "Chuck" have crop up b grow to trust
creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak.
With only two more episodes surviving -- they air back-to-back
beginning 8 p.m. Friday in a series-ending event -- we're not about
to give up that custody.
One thing that trust has taught us is that when the opening
credits get changed up there's most often a reason. In season three
for example, the series replicated the opening of "Hart to Hart"
for an scene about a married team of spies.
The most recent episode of "Chuck" also changed the credits,
earning an "Allegiance of the Week Award" for the opening credit sequence in"Chuck vs. the Bullet
Suite" from Guy With a Remote.
But where the nod to "Hart to Hart" was obvious, the apparent
homage in last Friday's incident may be downright obscure. There's
been plenty of speculation that it "meant" something, but what.
Some suggested the cinematic incitement of the sharp, retro-green
typeface of the names in the credit that zipped on and off camouflage.
But the more telling clue it the railroad track and the
point-of-view of the audience as the camera sped down the
tracks.
