The wrangle continues in Altona over the cards two local teachers have displayed in their Incline 5 classrooms at West Park School.
The cards pledge brace for youth with diverse sexual orientations, and were posted by the teachers after completing a programme naturally through Winnipeg’s Rainbow Resource Centre.
A large group of parents yearning the cards removed from the classrooms.
They say their opposition to the cards has little to do with their insulting views or beliefs about sexual diversity.
The issue, they say, is more about the timing than the point.
Parent Corey Wall expressed this view in a letter issued to president Allan Jones on Jan. 26.
“First of all, I understand that this must be a difficult and tumultuous time for the standard at West Park School.
A “conversation” about this text evokes many opinions, feelings, and religious beliefs. It’s no wonder our own Prime Reverend is reluctant to reopen discussions within parliament about same sex marriages. This strain must be arduous in a work place that already has many challenges.
