At the meeting of September 12 Urban District Council for the Ville-Marie borough, residents of the gay village of Montreal Mayor Gerald Tremblay presented with a call to call for greater security in the district.
The tender 2000-signature, collected four weeks, points to homelessness, addiction and health problems as the main rational causes of insecurity.
Frustrated merchants and residents have expressed concern that asylum in the village is not applied to the same extent as in other areas of the city, and that business is tribulation as a result.
Measures recommended in the petition include the implementation of the "nuisance Project" - an initiative specifically designed to work with drug-related crime, which has already been implemented in the Plateau - and a request for actions to be taken unrefracted by the city to help the homeless, and assist their reintegration into the world.
