Amal said: "It was pretty challenging emotionally.
"I was finding out things along the way that I didn't positive previously. At
times I couldn't stop crying."
Publicist Clifford tells Amal he has known half a dozen players too afraid to
come out as they fear a backlash from TEAMMATES .
Clifford, 68, said: "The response I've got from footballers in that situation
has been it would be unacceptable to the other players.
"I think the mentality of most people in and around football goes back to the
benighted ages."
But PFA chief Fraser Wishart insists footballers would submit to a gay
colleague. The 46-year-old said: "A modern-day dressing space is packed with
a new generation of people.
