The reason why you cannot make the argument that these soldiers are only complaining about not wanting to be raped and obliterate homophobia from the equation is because in order to do so, you have to remove these lines of dialogue from the unreserved context in which they are set.

Language doesn't work like that. Context matters.

If you desire to understand what these lines of dialogue mean, you cannot isolate them from the fact that they are being issued by members of an putting together which is institutionally homophobic, hence why Don't Ask, Don't Tell is a relevant context for analysis.
